Peter and Jackie, UK,My wife and I decided to visit a part of Italia to which we have never been before, Puglia.
We decided that we would combine a week long break with brushing up on our Italian at the same time and through a friend had been recommended L’Acanto language school in Mesagne in Puglia.
We contacted Michela the principle teacher and unfortunately were told that the school was closed in that period (August).
Michela said come anyway and stay with my parents in their house by the beach in Campomarino, we decided to give it a try and what a great decision it turned out be!
Michela´s family was excellent hosts, her mother is an excellent cook and we ate fabulous home cooked Pugliese food every night washed down with wonderful local wine supplied by the father.
The beach was literally only 500 meters away and the sea was warm and wonderfully clear.
Michela offered to guide us for a couple of days and proved to be a very knowledgeable guide and very good company. We visited Lecce (known as the Florence of the south) Gallipoli, Brindisi and Mesagne, all very interesting and worth a visit.
We asked to visit the school for the future and were very pleased to see that it was bright clean and airy, it seemed a very nice atmosphere in which to learn or revise one’s Italian.
It was, in short a fantastic holiday and a wonderful experience, I would have no hesitation in recommending both the school and the area.
